(2,221 posts)The polls were all slated for Trump, but we lie to ourselves saying "no it's a lie".
My neighbors and friends are all Trumpers, and there is literally NOTHING you can say to them to move the needle even a tiny bit, and some are EDUCATED people I went to college with.
The first debate we all had a sick feeling, but Kamala was a breath of fresh air that ONLY we could breathe in. She preached pretty much to the base (not completely but for the most part). She did run an excellent campaign, but was no match for racism and people who think they're not getting their fair share.
Trump is a business man/sales man who knows how to rile up emotional anger and fear, and then tell people what they want to hear (and a salesman knows that people hear what they want). The people leaving his rallies were not leaving because they didn't support him. They heard it before and decided to do something else with their time. That's it! We lie to ourselves.
Dems need to wise up. We do this all the damn time. When the Muller report was a thing, we all thought "this is it!" and it wasn't. We continuously lie to ourselves, because we believe what we want to believe. We don't seem to see the big picture when it comes to getting votes.
