I love that last line. "We probably cannot overcome much of what is headed our way, but we CAN outlast it."
Early last year, when I began to worry about this scenario, one of the things I did was hunt down some books about ordinary Germans' (Nazi opponents and Jews) experience of the Third Reich, when they realized this thing was taking shape and about to alter their lives forever. (Some of it was helpful, but a lot of it was common sense, but it was validating in the sense that this indeed is something worth worrying about) Good luck.
