and let me add I'm Canadian and have lived here with my family for over 25 years and when my Canadian mates start giving me grief about living in the States and asshole elected I tell them that living here in Western Washington is about as close as it comes to living in Canada as it gets here. More liberal, more accepting, etc etc. Great health care options all over the place.

Yeah we have the same issues as other cities, here and in Canada, but this is as safe as I feel as I would living back home.
All that said, if shit gets too real, I do have options to move back. But despite that it won't be easy. Canada is struggling, with the same issues, plus others. Healthcare in Canada needs a right proper overhaul to say the least. The impending downfall of Trudeau and the very real chance that Pierre Poilievre(Cdn version of trump) could be our next PM scares the hell out of me.
