(121,646 posts)We still have Tim Walz - I'm sorry about the circumstances of getting him back, but I'm glad he'll be with us. We have laws protecting women's reproductive rights; we're a safe haven for trans people; all of our kids get free school lunches; we don't have lunatics censoring school libraries. Minnesota was the first state in the midwest to legalize same-sex marriage and the first state to reject a constitutional amendment to ban it. And we haven't voted for a GOP presidential candidate in 52 years. It's true that there are parts of the state that are basically Alabama but cold, and we have a ways to go to get the Minneapolis Police Department to stop being racist assholes, overall it's a good place to live, especially if you stick to the cities.
