(121,976 posts)40. In the cities it's kind of expensive, though nothing like NY or CA.
State income tax and state and city sales taxes are higher than average, which causes whining among the GOP at the legislature, but you get what you pay for - good schools, decent state services, etc. My former employer merged with a bigger company headquartered in Atlanta, and I could have kept my job if I'd taken the transfer, but I chose early retirement rather than leave Minnesota. I like it here a lot.

If this is a real concern, you can easily acquire a medical card and get with the program.

I feel the same way about Oregon. Not perfect, but way less stressful than a Trump state.
