(5,191 posts)Twice my vote didnt matter (Al Gore and Hillary Clinton). If Kamala Harris ends up winning the popular vote that will be three times.
Ive tried not to think about it too much over the years because it makes me angry and I am a master at ignoring things that upset me (not healthy, but it is what it is). I wanted to believe we have a good and functional system, that We the People have a real voice. But, Im thinking about it now and it finally occurred to me: no wonder so many people my age and younger dont bother to vote. They saw those times the EC overrode the popular vote, too.
Ive tried to remain pragmatic and relatively positive these past two days. Maybe its still the numbness of being in shock, or the grief process taking its course.
If she ends up winning the popular vote its going to throw me over the edge into incandescent rage.
