43. Out of the seven times I've voted in a Presidential election

Twice my vote didn’t matter (Al Gore and Hillary Clinton). If Kamala Harris ends up winning the popular vote that will be three times.

I’ve tried not to think about it too much over the years because it makes me angry and I am a master at ignoring things that upset me (not healthy, but it is what it is). I wanted to believe we have a good and functional system, that We the People have a real voice. But, I’m thinking about it now and it finally occurred to me: no wonder so many people my age and younger don’t bother to vote. They saw those times the EC overrode the popular vote, too.

I’ve tried to remain pragmatic and relatively positive these past two days. Maybe it’s still the numbness of being in shock, or the grief process taking it’s course.

If she ends up winning the popular vote it’s going to throw me over the edge into incandescent rage.
