(24,792 posts)I don't think the electorate made this choice as an exploratory accident. Maybe in 2016, maybe, but not now.
People constituting a majority of the American electorate found reasons to vote for a convicted felon, an adjudicated rapist, a transparently obvious bullshitter who'd promise them the moon as long as he could delay delivery, who outright said he'd use presidential powers to hurt people he personally disliked. This speaks volumes about our national character.
Calling us overwhelmingly stupid is the kindest possible interpretation. Kareem Abdul Jabbar seems to be a very kind and forgiving man. I am neither as kind nor as forgiving.
Dark times are upon us now. We face the utter and complete destruction of the systems and institutions upon which we've come to rely. Our graciousness in defeat will not spare us from the worst of what happens next.
