In reply to the discussion: I'm a little amazed at the number of DUers who are willing to join a "they stole it" conspiracy theory. [View all]gemini_liberal
(321 posts)It's very easy to slip into when you feel emotionally vulnerable or powerless, which a lot of us do right now. And it's not a healthy road to go down, as you can easily slip further down a rabbit hole that can lead to your perception of reality being warped and adopting all kinds of problematic beliefs. I just think of the people who were once on our side back in the early 2000s who bought into conspiracies about 9/11 or whatever, who are now so far down the rabbit hole that they're embracing fascists and joined the people who they used to hate.
It sucks but it's better to rip the band-aid off and face reality for how it is. It's the only way you can adapt and progress.
(Note: obviously there are real anti-democratic conspiracies, with local officials purging rolls, suppressing votes etc. I am not referring to them, I am referring to the grand stuff like the idea that there was a successful secret nationwide effort to rig the vote or miscount it.)
