But, reaching out to the right didn't help at all, in fact, it may have hurt us with the base.
Of course, we're unlikely to have a chance to vote again, in a real election. Yes, we'll likely have some kind of "dear leader" type election where there is one candidate, but they don't plan to ever be out of power.
But if I'm wrong on that, we're going to see only middle aged, conservative white men running. They will try to be Republican lite and we'll continue to lose.
I hope that I am wrong about all of this, but it's where I see it going. There's that old saying about giving them an inch and them taking a mile....well, they're taking the whole road, all the way to the horizon.
My only comfort is knowing that a lot of these people fucked themselves over and they will find out soon enough.
