(11,504 posts)A lot of Bernie people switched to fuckface this time around. The ones I know are all definitely pro choice but care MUCH less about that than the price of eggs.
Inflation is extremely bad for the incumbent no matter the reason. Worldwide, the incumbents did terribly.
As a separate thing, the country is not ready for social justice. It is obvious that after the court allowed gay marriage, democrats felt that they could finally not have to sweep persecuted minorities under the rug going into elections. I remember gay members of DU back in 2008 or so complaining that the party was telling them to stifle themselves or risk losing the election. Hate to say it, but that strategy appears to be better if your metric is winning elections.
We can run women, but we probably have to STFU about being joyous at the prospect of the first [insert persecuted group here] to become X. That clearly is a loser. At this rate, we are looking at President Tulsi Gabbard being the first female president.
We can still fight the good fight, but outright wokeness is a loser.
Liberals also assumed Latinos care most about immigration. They dont care. They care about the price of eggs. And for fucks sake, send the term Latinx to the dustbin. That term is from white people telling them how their culture should be.
