66. I have pictures of myself as a child...

At Easter all dressed up in a hat and gloves. Little girl gloves. My mother was very serious about us looking put together even if I was only five years old.

I miss the days when the majority of the general public actually cared about what they looked like when they went shopping and out to socialize. I wonder why things changed.

What's driving the change? Is it apathy, defiance, ignorance, self expression, financial constraints or some combinations of them all?

I know time changes everything. But how does one account for the seemingly generalized deterioration of what many see as self respect? I wonder. But then I wonder about a lot of things.

I miss many things rooted in traditions but I definitely miss my mother more. She was my best friend.
