https://www.glamour.com/story/why-did-young-men-vote-for-donald-trumpNic Sumners, a 21-year-old cosmetic car repairman from Virginia, says he is pro-choice. But when he voted in the 2024 presidential election, he did so for Donald Trump.
Despite his personal beliefs, he says that Trump talks about the American people in a way that resonates with him, withoutin his opinionfaulting him for his gender and sexual orientation.
Im a straight white man, and I feel like we take the blame for a lot of things, Sumners says.
Of course there are bad guys, he adds, insisting hes not one of them just because he voted for Trump. But what appealed to him about Donald Trump was that his campaign was not coming after us. He was highlighting the American people, which we are. It doesnt matter what color you are, what you may identify as. Since I wasnt excluded, I resonated with it.
Economics also played a partSumners mother lost her home during Joe Bidens presidency (though he says she actually voted for Kamala Harris), and hes struggled to afford his own rent. He appreciates Trumps emphasis on the economy and building America up again.
But one of the biggest issues for him has been the way men in general are assumed to be inherently bad people because of their politics or their gender.

OP
I fucking figured all of that "patriarchy" talk along with "toxic masculinity" would start to turn off young, white men.

If they are offended by "patriarchy" and "toxic masculinity" they need to ask themselves why.

Based on the division it created in our own party, I wonder if that bear was Russian.

Or maybe women are sick of patronizing men telling them not to worry about toxic masculinity and the patriarchy

Young women are certainly turned off by the patriarchy and the toxic masculinity of Republicans.

Thank you! I am 100% for trans rights and inclusion. But I know that I fucking can't convince a Rogan listener leading

Bingo. Nothing is accomplished by starting with "Most white men are toxic, dangerous and murderers."

It is self sabotage to demonize the single biggest voting block. We're supposed to be inclusive.

I'm sorry but I'm not going to include people who want to hurt and or kill people.

You're wrong. "The overwhelming majority of young white men do NOT hurt and kill people."

I am so fucking tired of men taking everything said about men as a personal affront to themselves.

If you say it like that, it's offensive to me. This is a forum of Democrats. When you say, "FFS, grow the fuck up, Men!"

Perhaps so many young men has been bypassed in recent years being that the IT revolution bypassed a lot of them,

Will your response be similarly dismissive when AI "bypasses" millions over the next decade?

Yes, but the thing I didn't add the first time was that millions of new jobs were created back then, and will be when

I think a overreaction. People really don't know at this point what AI truly is yet. The tech is so new, that even IT,
