I know we want to find solace where we can, but Trump is going to handle everything the same way regardless. In 2000, George Bush lost the popular vote and still went around claiming that he had a "mandate".
Trump's supporters are way too stupid to know the difference or to care. Honestly, no members of the Democratic party felt that Bill Clinton should govern differently because he didn't win 50% of the popular vote. In his case, having Ross Perot as a 3rd party candidate affected the numbers.

Still no stats on mail in ballots, it was the mail ins that were the basis of Trumps "they cheated" charge the last time

If we had the Popular Vote Compact in place, Trump would have won all 538 EC votes.
