The connection to Lenin's brother is fascinating. I had no idea. I have studied the death of the Romanov's a bit since I come from Charlottesville VA where a woman claiming to be Anastasia lived while I was growing up there (a movie on the subject was loosely based on her). But never a mention that their deaths had any relationship to a personal vendetta by Lenin.
The irony here is that the guy who led the revolution tried to kill the Czar most friendly to the plight of the workers. I would understand the aristocracy sending over assassins who wanted to keep their way of life. Another case of misinformed workers acting against their own self-interest?
More and more, everything seems to be less about socio-political ideals and more about people's personal pain, resentments, and revenge.
