Its pretty apparent that there are some cases both would like to write decisions on that haven't made it to them yet. My guess is they hold out until the 2026, then assess that summer. If the gop is looking like they have a chance to lose the Senate, then they will retire. If not, then they may continue on till 2028. Unfortunately for us, the 2026 Senate map isn't great.
