When going overseas if you have over $10,000 you must declare it or it can be seized. Not by dea agents but by customs. You have a chance of getting it back a few months later if you can prove you made it legally.

Orin Kerr a lawyer who posts on Bluesky was posting about the same thing as the news article in the last week or so. I think he has been involved in some of the lawsuits.

You can bring over more than $10,000 as long as you declare it. The main thing to always remember is declare money and anything you buy overseas when bringing it back. We never really brought a whole lot back. But we would keep it in one suitcase and in easy to retrieve bags. Just makes it faster at customs.
