54. That love hate relationship with the ACA was evident

At first, Dems just ran away from ACA as if it were kryptonite. But then they embraced the Obama care label.

Today we know what an improvement it was. But it wasn't single payer or nationalized healthcare. It was just another compromise back then.

Yeah a third of the country was fighting tooth and nail against it. But most Americans thought we would get a form of nationalized healthcare. I think Hillary would have gotten it for us. Obama was ever the compromiser. Not so much Hillary.

That was what Americans really wanted and kind of expected from the "liberal" Democrats. It's what Obama and Hillary campaigned on. A nationwide single payer system like Medicare for all. But they didn't get it. And that disappointment translated into rejection of the Dems ACA.

It's easy for Repukes to win. They have the filthy-rich on their side all the time. They buy, buy, buy buy up everything from propaganda stations, to the police unions, to right wing talking heads, to judges. They buy gerrymandering and voter suppression tools. Money is the life blood of capitalism and Repukes know they can buy most anything in this out of control capitalist economy.

But not Dems. When Dems win, it's to do something. America votes in Dems to make important social changes: Like FDR and the new deal, Like JFK and civil rights, like Carter and the Dept of Education and stronger Social Security and unfortunately, like Clinton and free trade.
