(38,454 posts)135. Article about detecting false information
"NJ drone sightings have residents watching the skies. Should you believe social media?"
"We expect what we read to be true. The American Psychological Association noted on its website in March that "detecting false information is difficult. When we encounter new information, we tend to focus on understanding it and deciding what to do next, rather than evaluating it for accuracy. It takes effort to compare new information with what we already know; when new information is false but plausible, we can learn it as fact."

That looks like a plane to me. I can see the silhouette of the vertical tail against the sky.

Maybe people in the area could hire one of those guys who use small drones with cameras to find lost dogs to take a look

Not necessarily FBI, but it is odd the military are officially clueless, whether they are hiding something or not

I find it inconceivable that the military, FAA and FBI do not know the provenance of these drones.

Why is it not being more reported? First I've heard of it and I'm a news junkie.

I personally find it hard to believe that FBI/NSA/DoD do not know the origin...

Given what we have seen of the threat of drones in Ukraine, I think state police need to be equipped accordingly
