…as a mineral in some water sources. A small amount strengthens teeth and prevents decay. Too much is not good, in which case the municipal water supply should be modified.

There was already a study in recent years of a district where fluoride was removed from the municipal water supply by public demand — the research results were striking, in that the incidence of tooth decay among adolescents was low before fluoride was removed, and rose sharply in the years that followed.

In small quantities, it is considered a very valuable supplement, the way adding iodide to table salt practically wiped out the incidence of goiter in this country, and adding Vitamin D to milk made rickets a disease no one even hears about any more.

Cheers.
