(25,676 posts)...every summer, the peak season for it, that either my brother (1954) or I (1951) would contact this dreaded virus. She was beyond ecstatic when the vaccine was approved and available.
The pediatric practice from which I retired in March 2021 finally firmed up their vaccine policy and will no longer accept patients/families who chose not to immunize. They have worded it politely, saying that parents who do not wish to immunize should look elsewhere for a practice that is consistent with their beliefs.
I wish they had done this during the almost 25 years I was the peds NP there. The moment I'd hear a parents say they did not "believe" in immunizations, I always knew it would be an exercise in futility and a waste of breath to attempt to convince them otherwise.
