Canada is in the middle of an election. The tariffs issue has been a rally event in Canada, and every candidate there is trying to take a strong stance against Trump. Nobody up there is going to say we need to negotiate and work with him.

Trump probably thought he could put on the tariffs and it would hurt the Liberal party, but there liberals and conservatives are all taking the same positions against it
