It is very important for us not forget Andy Stephenson, who was a tireless activist for voting rights who died of cancer at the age of 43 in Seattle in 2005. Beloved of DUers, he spent his final days surrounded by friends while being slandered by right wingers who claimed that his illness was a hoax, that the fund to raise $50K for an operation was a fraud and even dedicated a website to promoting such nonsense. There was once a Wikipedia article about Andy, but right wingers, wishing to cover their tracks after all the perfidy and slander they committed against him, organized in an unfortunately successful effort to get it removed.
