In reply to the discussion: RFK Jr. Says Doing Heroin Made Him a Star Student [View all]DrRaskolnik
(1 post)I'm a retired psychiatrist who treated adult ADHD-- with stimulants-- for years in my practice.
When I read this news report today, my first thought was that RFK, Jr. was providing a classic description of effective ADHD treatment with stimulants, which is often life-altering.
Contrary to popular misconceptions, stimulants (e.g., methylphenidate, dextroamphetamine, et.al.) are a highly effective treatment for ADHD-- in controlled studies comparing them with placebo.
I suspect that RFK, Jr. was mistakenly attributing the improvement of his ADHD symptoms to heroin, rather than stimulants.
I have no confidence in the RFK, Jr.'s medical judgment-- as we see with his debunked opinion that vaccines cause autism.
Trump is organizing a second kakistocracy-- even worse than his first disastrous administration.
