In fall of 1988, at 28 years old, I moved from Seattle to NJ for graduate school at Rutgers. A friend gave me Tracy Chapman's CD as a going away gift. I listened to it so many times on that trip. About the best first album ever.

I love the music I grew up with in the 70's and 80's. So many artists and songs come to mind. Drift Away, Dobie Gray; Life on Mars, Bowie; Alison, Elvis Costello; Bob Marley; Moondance, Van Morrison; Comfortably Numb, Pink Floyd, Delaney and Bonnie, Eric Clapton... too many to name. But it always seemed like there were only a few "favorite" songs on each album. With Tracy Chapman's album, every single song grabbed me.
