invasion of monkeys at the bird blind! [View all]

i got my first photos at my two new bird blinds over the last few days. the yellow headed caracara was in a nearby tree and i got these snapshots from the lower blind (the planned monkey blind) and the two shots of the squirrel monkey are from the upper blind (planned for toucans, aracaris, currasows and other birds).

the biggest challenge is sunlight....clear sunny days with the sun overhead is no bueno. the caracaras were in heavy shade so the images are high ISO and noisy.

the monkeys were all over the perches at both blinds the last couple days, but the couple times i walked down there with a camera, they were hanging out in the shade of the nearby trees. the monkey i did photograph was alone on the perch....when there are a bunch of them on the perch, only a couple can access the bananas, so there are plenty of opportunities to get them not shoving food in their mouths.
