any nikon Z (mirrorless) shooters here, other than usonian and me? [View all]

if so, what are you shooting with and which lenses? what do you love about the platform and what gripes do you have?

the Z8 is amazing to look thru and shoot with but i have issues with:

1. spot metering. it can malfunction and not meter from the focus point and also while using it (i use manual shutter and aperture with auto ISO) sometimes the camera somehow sets the ISO way too high and the EVF shows a completely overblown scene and locks it in and no matter how much you aim at a completely dark scene, it won't lower the ISO.

2. AF. with f mount glass and the FTZ, i get way more missed focus shots using animal eye detection AF than i get keepers. not sure why....but it's usually front focused by a small amount...i think a strand of hair that hangs in front of the animal's eye can do this. i need to get a Z telephoto lens to see if the problem is still there....my guess is that it will be, as i hear similar complaints from other Z users.

i'm hoping a firmware update can fix both of these issues.
