Yes, this story gets stranger and stranger as it goes along. What a fine crop the GOP is offering up in WV these days!

Statehouse Beat: Raines saga grows stranger

Stranger and stranger is the best way to describe the saga of Delegate Suzette Raines, R-Kanawha.

On Tuesday, her attorney emailed a copy of her very overdue financial disclosure form to the state Ethics Commission, but interim executive director Rebecca Stepto said it is not valid, since it lacks an original signature.

The email was transmitted just two days before Raines was to vacate a rental house at 8 Roller Road in Charleston — the address listed as her place of residence on the disclosure form.

Obviously, Raines could not sign the form using that address, since submitting false information on a financial disclosure form is a misdemeanor that carries a fine and possible one-year jail term. (Oddly, failure to file the form is also a misdemeanor, but is punishable by fines but no possible jail time.)
