18. Are you adjusting the "Settings" in the TV, or in the data box?

Sometimes it can be really confusing knowing which device's settings menu is on the screen.

Since your OP said the TV did not have HDMI ports, I take it this must be the settings menu of the data box, does that sound right?

Unless the adapter itself also has settings?

If it's the TV settings and the only available input is via component (even if you used and adapter upstream), then choose the component option.
