Don't be embarrassed. It is that insufferable boor who should be embarrassed for forcing you and everyone around him to listen to his neanderthal views.
Maybe next time he will think twice before subjecting people to his offensive political rants. If more people pushed back like you did, maybe right wing nut jobs would not be so quick to subject people to their depraved ravings.
Liberals are always the ones worrying about people's feelings and not wanting to get political among mixed company, but the right wingers have no problem popping off and making people miserable.
