even as it has been debunked repeatedly.
The OP postulates as given a premise that I do not agree with and which has been debunked often enough. It suffices to say that Obama/Biden have publicly given Kerry unusual foreign policy responsibilities and have included him prominently in the Obama re-election - signalling that he is both the chief foreign policy surrogate and a key player in debate practice. Those are reality, the op is NOT.
The comment that is referred to is true - Bush et al did manage to convince enough people to believe their caricature of Kerry. This was done by heinous lies on his military service to counter the way it positively defined Kerry's character and they used the flip flop meme - helped by Kerry's unfortunate language - even though his record showed his values were consistent over his whole public career. The Kerry campaign was given almost no platform by a biased media to refute those characterizations even though the first amounted to character assassination when the official record was widely available and backed Kerry. Note the media NEVER asked the SBVT to supply any proof - even though they were the ones disputing the official record. The second was ordinary politics and without the former likely would have carried little weight.
No one is saying that Obama should really follow Bush's example and lie to create a negative image for Romney to counter the positive - successful businessman, saver of the Olympics (ignoring the federal aid and that it was necessary to get a new "head" because the SLC officials who headed it were so tainted by then. They needed someone new - not involved - and Romney, a prominent Mormon businessman with political aspirations was a win/win choice for SLC. ) They are doing it by getting their view of what Bain did out there. I suspect this will be followed by using the flip flop charge in a way that will make the Bush use look minor - as they can show Romney has changed on nearly everything.
