reaction on the streets in Egypt will be a signal to the Saudis of how much blow-back there might be. Also in the larger scheme of the US and Israel pushing for Syrian factions to keep a "unified"Syria from happening it goes to the general approach of trying to foster instability and control it at the same time. A fractured Syria gives them the excuse to continue their presence and even solidify factions taking more control of their respective regions along with promises of financial aid/payoffs and military assistance.

Israel mucking about with the Kurds up in the north of Syria has Turkey on edge and there is little serious "Israeli security needs" justification that Netanyahu can give for doing so. The supposed "concern for freeing the oppressed Syrians" was all along a propaganda piece while various actors pursued their own self interests.

There has been discussion that Israel has called for a "David Corridor" stretching across Syria.
