Ford_Prefect
Ford_Prefect's JournalThat's the plan alright. Legal spot fires all over the map so you're playing whack-a-mole to keep up.
This is all part of the Heritage Foundation strategy: preliminary to all the challenges and peremptory lawsuits to clog the legal and electoral system before and during the election. They intend to fill the state and federal electoral and justice system with so many roadblocks that the election will appear to be in doubt before it has begun, before it can be counted, and before it can be certified.
It is a coordinated campaign of terror, an outright fraud on all American voters, and an assault on our system of laws and democratic government. It depends upon the perception that so many such complaints MUST mean that there are indeed real problems.
In short they intend to overwhelm us with a nearly endless series of lies, much like their candidate does.
Since 1973 The Heritage Foundation and other front groups like it have been grooming and financing whole generations
of them to take over local government, state and national legislatures, the GOP and the White House. He is not just one of a few organically stupid jerks in elected office. He is one of thousands of RW true believers you'll find on school boards, city and county commissions, in the many GOP controlled state legislatures and governorships. They are the 3rd generation of what became visible as Newt Gingrich's Party of NO, followed by the Tea Party, and now MAGA. As such they are a numerically significant part of American political life. They are also a cancer on the body politic in that their goal is to disable and consume democratic government at every level to the ultimate benefit of the Ultra Rich and the Christian Nationalists. While not all of them are as outspoken as the tool mentioned above they are all well vetted and enthusiastic members of the cult.
REPORT FINDS BIDEN DEBATE CRISIS IS A BOGUS MEDIA CREATION. Read the evidence
https://www.democraticunderground.com/100219131688New Report Finds No Significant Change in Voter Preferences After First US Presidential Debate
President Bidens performance during the first 2024 presidential debate on June 27 prompted several prominent Democrats to call for Biden to drop out of the race, and Bidens electability has since dominated the news cycle. Coverage of post-debate election polls has factored heavily in op-eds and network news roundtables, furthering the medias fixation on Bidens viability as a candidate.
Unlike the cross-sectional surveys circulating in the news, however, the researchers behind the CHIP50 report analyzed survey data taken in April/May on candidate choice, and compared it to survey responses from the same individuals after the June 27 debate, reducing the likelihood of error due to differences in pre- and post-debate samples. They found no substantial change in candidate preference for these voters before and after the debate.

The dumbest thing that Democrats could do would be to remove the candidate that their voters want.
Indications are growing that Democrats are not in trouble but that the polls and the media are getting this election wrong.

Fascinating to find confirmation of the MSM playing meme games with the election, and the truth.
Michigan state GOP Rep. Friske arrested on undisclosed charge after police get report of man with gun.
Beth LeBlanc/ Chad Livengood/ The Detroit News. Updated 6:48 PM ET 6-20-2024Jordan Gulkis, a spokeswoman for the Lansing Police Department, said officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Forest Road in Lansing, near where public records show Friske owns a condominium. "Our officers quickly responded and made contact with all the parties involved," Gulkis said.
Gulkis said Friske, a Republican from Charlevoix, was arrested shortly at 2:45 a.m. Thursday "for a felon-level offense."
The Ingham County Prosecutor's Office is reviewing charges, Gulkis said, and Friske is expected to be arraigned Friday or Saturday if charges are authorized. Officials at the Ingham County jail said Thursday morning that Friske is being held at the Lansing Police Department lockup.

Arizona House votes to repeal Civil War-era abortion ban.
Source: Washington Post. By Caroline Kitchener and Yvonne Wingett Sanchez. April 24, 2024 at 3:22 p.m. EDT
The 1864 abortion law, which took effect briefly after Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022 but was soon blocked by the courts, was revived by the states highest court on April 9, inciting a national uproar and political panic among Republicans who worry that the ban will hurt their chances of winning elections later this year, including the presidential contest.
GOP anxieties about the politics of a near-total abortion ban have led to an unlikely, albeit temporary, alliance between Democrats, a small number of Republican lawmakers mostly in swing districts and allies of former president Donald Trump including Senate candidate Kari Lake, who recently reversed her position on the ban and has been making personal appeals to GOP lawmakers, urging them to repeal the law.
**********************
Three Republicans in the House crossed party lines Wednesday to vote with all of the chambers Democrats. Even if the bill to repeal the 1864 law is approved by the Senate and signed by the governor, the near-total abortion ban could still take effect for several months. Bills typically take effect 90 days after the legislative session ends.
The legislation now moves to the state Senate, where it needs votes from at least two Republicans in addition to all of the chambers Democrats. The Senate is already moving forward with its own identical version of the repeal bill, signaling that it could have the GOP support needed to pass the bill approved by the House on Wednesday. The earliest that the Senate could vote on the House version is May 1, based on the chambers current schedule, according to legislative staffers.

It seems some of them are falling over themselves to retrench and react to the pushback against the 1864 law they so sanctimoniously celebrated just weeks ago. How the worm has turned.
'Stakes are really high': misinformation researcher changes tack for 2024 US election
A key researcher in the fight against election misinformation who herself became the subject of an intensive misinformation campaign has said her field gets accused of bias precisely because its now mainly right-wingers who spread the worst lies.
Kate Starbird, co-founder of the University of Washingtons Center for an Informed Public, added that she feared that the entirely false story of rigged elections has now sunk in for many Americans on the right. The idea that theyre already going to the polls with the belief that theyre being cheated means theyll misinterpret everything they see through that lens, she said.
Starbirds group partnered with Stanford Internet Observatory on the Election Integrity Partnership ahead of the 2020 elections a campaign during which a flood of misinformation swirled around the internet, with daily claims of unproven voter fraud.
Starbird and her team helped document that flood, and in return congressional Republicans and conservative attorneys attacked her research, alleging it amounted to censorship and violated the first amendment.

Not exactly new information re: RW lies and propaganda feeding the mythology of voter fraud and unreliable election processes.
Celeste Maloy is Ammon Bundy's cousin. Would that impact her views on public lands in Congress?
I would love to see the state have jurisdiction over (public lands) someday right now we dont, Maloy, the GOP candidate in Utahs special congressional election, said in an interview.
By Emily Anderson Stern and Bryan Schott | Oct. 22, 2023, 6:00 a.m.
On the campaign trail, the Republican has frequently highlighted the issue of public lands. Like some other Republican politicians in Western states and her Bundy relatives Maloy believes individual states, not the federal government, should have jurisdiction over those lands.
The Bundys views are widely considered extreme by expert organizations like the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Cliven Bundy is her uncle and Ammon Bundy is her cousin. There appear to be very close ties among them although Ammon has endorsed another candidate in the primary for the same seat.

Declassified report suggests "Havana syndrome" could result from energy weapon
https://www.salon.com/2023/03/29/exclusive-declassified-report-suggests-havana-syndrome-could-result-from-energy-weapon/A newly obtained declassified report prepared for the director of national intelligence by a panel of experts appears to show conclusively that "Havana syndrome" a cluster of unexplained symptoms experienced by diplomats and government personnel abroad is not a naturally occurring health problem. It does not reach any conclusions about who or what may be responsible, but suggests that an unknown device or weapon using "pulsed electromagnetic energy" remains a plausible explanation.
The document was declassified after the James Madison Project, a nonprofit dedicated to reducing government secrecy, sued to obtain further information on "Anomalous Health Incidents" or AHIs, the official term used to designate the syndrome.
"The U.S. government is covering up evidence as to what AHIs are," said James Madison Project attorney Mark Zaid, who also represents a number of Havana syndrome patients. "This report differs from the summary released earlier this month and previous statements from the intelligence community. It is becoming apparent that these events were perpetrated either by foreign actors, or it is an experiment gone horribly wrong."
Further: The report says that electronic devices are far more likely to cause the effects and are a plausible cause.
So the cause is something NO ONE, especially our own Intel Services, wants to admit exists and has these side effects. We don't need Orlon's magic chipset under our skin because the external listening tools already exist?
Neo-Nazi, white supremacist, racist rally apparently planned for Missoula.
It seems there is a RW plan to do events like this all over the northwest.
I suspect the timing may have to do with the fact that this week Missoula is celebrating the history and contributions of the Buffalo Soldiers who were stationed in the area and are significant to the settling of this region.

David Erickson for The Missoulian Jun 13, 2022
Miri Cypers, the regional director for the Anti-Defamation Leagues Pacific Northwest office, said the organization has been tracking National Socialist Movement posts and became aware a few weeks ago about some sort of gathering planned in Missoula for June 18. The ADLs Center on Extremism is a group of experts that tracks and investigates extremist activities on certain platforms, Cypers explained. They found out that the National Socialist Movement is planning a specific event in Missoula on June 18, which is coinciding with a white lives matter June day of activism.
The Missoula County commissioners, the office of Missoula mayor John Engen, the Montana Human Rights Network, the Missoula Har Shalom Jewish congregation and the Missoula Police Department are all tracking rumors of the gathering.
