Trump Insists Truth Social Shows ‘Love of our Country’ and Asks Fans to ‘Support’ It as Stock Price — and His Net Worth — Plummets

Former President Donald Trump insisted that Truth Social “Shows the Spirit and Love of Our Country” as the social media company’s stock price continued to plummet on Friday.

On March 26, Trump Media and Technology Company, the firm that owns Truth Social, went public. One day later, its stock price exceeded $66 per share (it had previously reached a high of nearly $80). Since then, however, the stock has lost more than half its value, standing at under $31 per share as of late Friday morning.

For Trump, who owns more than 78 million shares of stock in the company, the crash has significant personal financial implications as he continues to grapple with various legal costs and penalties.

Those implications were reflected in a statement he released on none other than Truth Social Friday morning in which he implored his political following to “support TRUTH.”

Kanye West Praises Adolf Hitler

Ye’s appearance on far-right conspiracy-theory outlet InfoWars quickly turned into a chance to preach antisemitic hatred on Thursday, as the star formerly known as Kanye West praised Adolf Hitler within the first thirty minutes of the broadcast.

Ye, whose face was entirely hidden behind a black mask, began praising the genocidal German dictator soon after the broadcast began. Ye began to commend Hitler after InfoWars host Alex Jones tried to defend the rapper’s recent streak of antisemitic statements.

“Well, I see good things about Hitler,” Ye said, later adding: “Every human being has value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler.”

Jones repeatedly tried to steer Ye away from supporting Hitler. But Ye, who dined at Mar-a-Lago with Donald Trump last week, insisted on complimenting the murderous regime behind the Holocaust.

Manchin says he trusted Gorsuch and Kavanaugh....and is disappointed

Manchin said he's "deeply disappointed" in the justices.

"I trusted Justice Gorsuch and Justice Kavanaugh when they testified under oath that they also believed Roe v. Wade was settled legal precedent and I am alarmed they chose to reject the stability the ruling has provided for two generations of Americans," he said.

Kavanaugh and Gorsuch provided critical votes to assemble a Supreme Court majority to eliminate Roe v. Wade.

Critics of Manchin and Collins described them as naive, if not willfully ignorant of what some said at the time was the likely endgame if the two conservatives were added to the court.

Alabama is shrinking under the onslaught of Covid-19, its chief medical officer said, as deaths in the state outnumber births for the very first time.

Speaking to reporters in Montgomery on Friday, Dr Scott Harris said: “Here in Alabama, we continue to see deaths at a really high rate … 2020 is going to be the first year that we know of in the history of our state where we actually had more deaths than births.

“Our state literally shrunk in 2020, based on the numbers that we have managed to put together, and actually by quite a bit.”

Harris said Alabama had recorded a preliminary total of 64,714 deaths in 2020, compared with 57,641 births.

“We have data going back to the first decade of the 20th century, so more than 100 years, and that’s never happened before, nor has it ever even been close before. In world war two or during the flu pandemic of 1918, or world war one, we’ve never had a time where deaths exceed births until this past year.

“It’s certainly possible that could happen this year as well if we continue in the same rate that we’re seeing now.”

GOP Congressman Scolds Media for Not Asking Democrats About Their Vaccinations, Reporter Informs Him They Have 100% Vaccine Rate

Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) chided the media for pestering congressional Republicans about whether they had been vaccinated for Covid-19 but not the Democrats, and was immediately informed by CNN’s Annie Grayer that 100% of his Democratic colleagues had already gotten the shot.

Polls have consistently shown that vaccine hesitancy is higher among Republicans than Democrats, and this is often blamed, at least in part, on GOP politicians’ vocal objections to the vaccines or refusal to answer if they have been vaccinated.

Thursday morning, at a press conference held by the GOP Doctor’s Caucus, Grayer asked the lawmakers if they believed that Republicans needed to be more vocal about getting vaccinated in order to encourage their constituents to get vaccinated too.

“You as a press have a responsibility to ask questions of the Democrats as well,” replied Jackson. “How many Democrats are willing to say whether or not they’ve been vaccinated?”

“One hundred percent of Democrats have said they’re vaccinated,” said Grayer.

Canada's 'Doing Better' on Vaccine Rollout Because of US Political 'Divisiveness' Over Vaccinations

Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Monday that Canada is doing better than the United States in its vaccination rollout right now because of the political divisiveness in the U.S. over vaccines.

CNN’s Kate Bolduan asked the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director about Canada’s progress in vaccinating their population compared to the United States, recently surpassing the U.S. on percentage of the population that has been completely vaccinated.

Fauci said that Canada’s doing better “not because we trying any less than they are trying,” but because “in Canada you don’t have that divisiveness of people not wanting to get vaccinated, in many respects on the basis of ideology and political persuasion, and that’s something that we’ve been saying for some time now.”

He continued to express concern about vaccines being politicized, saying it “doesn’t make any sense to essentially disregard or don’t pay attention to what’s obvious.”

Pandemic Watchdog Is Probing Mnuchin, Cruz Roles in Fed Lending

A federal watchdog is looking into former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin’s decision to roll back the U.S. Federal Reserve’s emergency lending programs at the end of 2020, an issue that has become a point of partisan tension in Congress.

The Special Inspector General for Pandemic Recovery is also inquiring into Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz’s role in persuading the central bank to expand the eligibility rules for the Main Street Lending Program to make it easier for oil and gas companies to apply for the low interest rate loans.

The probes were revealed in the watchdog’s quarterly report released Monday.

The investigations, led by Brian Miller -- the special Inspector General in charge of overseeing the Treasury Department and Federal Reserve’s response to the pandemic -- could shed more light on Mnuchin’s decision and legal basis for winding down the programs, which Democrats say was politically motivated.
