senseandsensibility's JournalTrump could have just taken credit for Biden's economy
It would have been easy. And we know he's lazy. It would have involved lying, but since when has he cared about that? And we know the corporate media would have let him get away with it, just as they let him slam Biden's economic record during the election.
So why didn't he? Well, my take is that he doesn't care about his place in history or what voters think of him. Taking credit for Biden's economy might fuel his need for recognition and dishonesty, but beyond that what would he get out of it?
He wants something else. And it is not to bring back manufacturing to the US, which would take years if not decades and the kind of careful planning he is incapable of.
What is it he is after?

How's this for a headline meant to normalize and downplay the complete insanity of tariffs? Trump's Tariffs are Latest Sign of His Second-Term Appetite for Risk
I tweaked it for them, in case they're ever interested in rejoining the reality-based world: Trump's Tariffs are Based on Lies and Will Tank the US Economy for No Reason
Do you agree with Greg Cesar, Rep from TX (D)?
Talk about plain speaking. This is what he thinks trump's plan is with tariffs: "What the plan is is 'come cut a deal with Donald Trump"...Trump on one hand is telling reporters he doesn't care whether prices go up for the American workers, but what he does care about is what people that donated to his campaign think, people that could cut him a check personally think."
Come cut a deal with Donald Trump. What could go wrong?
Inflation risk from trump tariffs according to economy reporter from Reuters
Michael Derby is quoting Piper Sandler: "The tariffs came in higher/worse than we'd expected, so we are lowering our 2Q real GDP estimate from 0% to -1%. And given where the big tariff hikes are concentrated--China, Vietnam, Taiwan, etc.--the risks to consumer inflation are much higher than initially thought."
Sounds like fun times when the markets open tomorrow and as inflation hits in the coming days. Now the Dems have ONE JOB: Make sure the voters know whose fault this is. Hint: saying it once isn't enough.
"Good day to remember that a US President
has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It's not like war powers or pardons. It's entirely designated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt." Josh Marshall on bluesky.
Dem should be saying this every time they are asked to comment.
About how Booker went over 24 hours w/o bathroom breaks
Manu Raju broke this news, according to Ron Filipkowski: "To answer the question that I've heard many people asking, Cory Booker tells a group of us he didn't have to go to the restroom over 25 hours because he hasn't eaten since Friday and stopped drinking water Sunday. He said he intentionally dehydrated himself."
James Carville's prediction just now for WI election
He predicted "we win". For what it's worth.
Confession from Cory Booker today
Part of his 22 hour and counting speech: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.' "
Self-reflection and critique of the party as a whole is not disloyalty. I see a change here. I hope it's contagious.
This is what FAUX is telling their viewers about tariffs
Harris Faulkner: "Look, when this nation used to go to war, people in this country would support the war effort with their materials at home and making things for weaponry. We have to do 100% buy in over this bumpy period."
I love southpaw's (@nycsouthpaw.bsky.social) response: When this nation used to go to war, there was actually a war.
The stupidity, it burns. We are supposed to suffer and make do while trump lights the economy on fire FOR NO REASON or we are not "patriotic." That is what they are selling. And you know their audience will buy it.
