4lbs
4lbs's JournalMy Penzey's Spices order came in.
It actually arrived on Friday Nov 1, but today was the first day I was able to take pictures of the order.
I ordered 1 2.2 Oz Fine Black Pepper, and 1 Southwest Seasoning.
I got a FREE "I Will Vote 11.05.24" mini Penzeys Pepper bag and pin.
I also got a FREE "Cooks Vote" sticker.
I am getting paid again at the end of this week, and will be making another order to support them.
Saw my first Harris-Walz 2024 sign in a yard yesterday.
It was in the afternoon while I was walking to eat some hamberders (ahem, spelled intentionally that way).
I simply smiled and kept walking.
That sign is still there today. Seems the 'owner' of the house added some more signs, all local Democrats and endorsed by the local Democratic Party. I voted for all of them earlier in my mail-in ballot..
I'm beginning to think there is another Democrat on my street.
Meanwhile, across the street from this house lives a former Marine (his house flies a US Flag and a US Marines flag). Dude is older and white. In his late 60s maybe early 70s. That's clearly in the MAGAt wheelhouse/base right there. He does typical volunteer citizens' patrol and neighborhood watch and such in his spare time now that he's retired. I talked with him one day last month and expected him to be full on Republican. He is, but he HATES Dumpy the Clown. Says the guy couldn't pass a background check to get a 'real' job, so he isn't a 'real' person to him. He called Dumpy a "chickenshit coward too fucking scared to go to Vietnam like a real man." I'm beginning to think this guy used to be a Marine in Vietnam. We got to talking about that country among other things.
He's looking forward to having Dumpy in an orange jumpsuit and behind bars for all his convictions. Shocked me, but this is why I think Kamala Harris will win CA by more than 25 points and quite frankly the general next month. If this staunch Republican former Marine feels this way about Dumpy, how many more across the country feel the same way?
Got my Harris-Walz 2024 sticker from MoveOn
It arrived a few days ago, but I just got around to taking a pic and making this post today.
Sent my mail-in ballot for CA General 2024, and got it received and added. To be opened
and fully counted on November 5. Nearly everyone/everything was fully local Democratic party endorsed/approved. Only 1 candidate and 1 measure they didn't have an endorsement on.
It was easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy. No standing in line to vote in-person. No waiting until November 5.
BTW, I opted in and got an email and a text when my ballot was received and accepted by the local county registrar's office. All voting everywhere should be done like this. Make it easy to vote, for everyone that legally can.

If you are in a red or swing state that doesn't do this as simply and quickly, ask them why not. The MOST POPULOUS state in the country, and third largest (by area) does it this quickly and easily. Why can't they?
Had some local MAGAts "turn" their thoughts today.
Usually, these guys have been ummm... pro "the orange one".
They guffawed and laughed when Dumpy took on Biden in that debate months ago.
They were silent and didn't say anything when Kamala tore him a "new one" in their debate.
They haven't said anything since. One of them joked though that his dog and cat were fine
Now, this morning, one of them blasted Putin and said he was dangerous and needed to be "taken out". The others kept quiet but nodded their agreement.
I was kind of shocked. These were older white males, in their 60s. Some of them retired military.
I finally said "I'm not sure the guy will last past 2025, especially if Kamala wins in November." His backers may then consider him a bad financial risk and feel it is cheaper for them to have him umm.. "removed" then stay in there.
Especially now that Ukraine is looking like the 1980s version of Afghanistan. They may feel like spending another decade where they aren't wanted will cost too much and tell him to get up and leave. If he refuses, they will make sure he 'accidentally' falls out of a window.
.
One of them said "Gotta be careful and mindful of that Russian mafia, man. They can put a big hurt on you, and more, if you let them."

Heat Wave here in Southern California
Here in SoCal, the South San Diego area (includes National City, Bonita, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, Otay Mesa, etc.), experienced a massive heat wave this weekend.
I'm glad I work early morning until around noon. By 10:00am we were 'baking', and when the back door of the restaurant opened for a few minutes, there was a huge inflow of 'hot air' from the outside.
Earlier today (Sunday Sep 8, 2024) at around 1:00pm PDT the temp here hit 101, with a RealFeel of 108 (according to AccuWeather).
That's today. The temps have been in the 90s, high 90s Friday and Saturday. On Wednesday and Thursday, the temps were in the upper 80s. They reached over 100 today. That's on the coast, where I'm at. Further inland, around El Cajon and Santee and such, it is easily 10 to 15 degrees hotter on a regular basis. I.E. if the coast has a high of 85, then inland it will be 95 to 100 at the same time.
Tomorrow, Monday, Sep 9, 2024, it is forecast to be about 89 degrees, and 87 on Tuesday, in my area.
The temp won't get down to a "reasonable" 75 degrees for me until the end of the week.
So, temps reaching 100 degrees, in September.
I remember about 6 years ago, it reached 100 in my area in mid-October.
But hey, I guess 'climate change' is a hoax right? I mean, I must not be really feeling this heat, and that sweat dripping off me is imaginary.
EDIT: For those not in the US, all temps shown are in degrees Fahrenheit. 100 degrees Fahrenheit = 37.778 Celsius. https://www.metric-conversions.org/temperature/fahrenheit-to-celsius.htm
Also, all times are PDT. PDT = Pacific Daylight Time (which is the current time standard in California)
EDIT 2: It is currently 7:00pm PDT here in my area, and the temp is still around 84 degrees Fahrenheit. Guess I'll be waiting at least until 8:00pm or even 9:00pm for the temp to drop another 5 to 10 degrees. The sun is setting which is helping greatly.
Hillary's magic EV number is 195.
The magic number is 195.
That is the number of Electoral Votes that Hillary Clinton needs by 10:00pm Eastern (7:00pm Pacific) on Tuesday night to guarantee victory.
How? Well, with 270 EV total needed, Hillary Clinton's West Coast "blue wall" will be activated at 11:00pm Eastern (8:00pm Pacific) when the polls close out here in the west.
She has a 99.5% chance of winning all 4 main Western states: California, Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii.
California, where she is up by 24 points, is worth 55 EV.
Washington, where she is up by 14 points, is worth 12 EV.
Oregon, where she is up by 10 points, is worth 7 EV.
Hawaii, where she is up by 22 points, is worth 4 EV.
That is a total of 78 EV.
78 + 195 = 273.
I added in a 3 EV cushion.
Thus, again, once Hillary reaches 195 EV by 10:00pm Eastern on Tuesday night, the election is over. The west coast "blue wall" will come in like a tidal wave at 11:00pm Eastern.
Coming soon.... The Donald Trump PAC / Party.
I've suspected early on, back in February that Trump doesn't really want to be President, but generate enough of a following to create a post-election political party that he can con and milk for all their worth.
Current polling has Trump getting possibly as low as 38% of the popular vote.
Now, in 2012, almost 130 million votes were cast.
38% of 130 million is almost 50 million.
In addition, let's say, after losing next month, 20% of those voters desert him. He would still have 40 million that support him.
Furthermore, with this newly formed pseudo PAC/party, he would probably ask each of the 40 million to donate just $20 to his cause.
Let's say only half do just that. That would still be $400 million.
You just know Trump would pocket at least half of that for himself and his family, giving him $200 million.
Then he and Steve Bannon would create a Youtube channel and Facebook video presence, and asking his 40 million followers every 6 months or so for another $20.
That's how he gets hundreds of millions of dollars each year in income.
By bilking naive, gullible, Trump followers.
Donald J. Trump. The modern-day P.T. Barnum.
