Keep in mind, I am angry at my fellow Latinos that followed the same pattern. Is it really a matter of people accepting that the monster is a monster, but if he likes you, he will eat you last?
I know we need to stick together, BUT
We do need to be aware that there are many people that frankly gave the GOP help, who should have known better. I will try to avoid malice, especially as I known that 2026 midterms, and 2028, will be an attempt to revive and repair that tattered nation. but I will phrase to certain people, and ask them what they gained.
As a Puerto Rican, a Latino, let me ask you: what did you gain by voting for Trump? Yeah, we know the Florida Cubans will always vote for the GOP. even when Trump calls rubio "little Marco." Do you think that you are respected? Do you think these people you go to the churches or bars with are not ready to turn on you if they want to. or feel they need to. They may never say certain things out loud, but rest assured, they will act.
What I said about my Latinos also applies to others. While African Americans have been the life support of this party, there were certain men (yeah Charlemagne the God,) who stabbed their sisters and wives in the back. What did you gain by weakening the very people who, when all is said and done, are often you last line of defense?
To the ambitious Dems that were eager to shove Biden out the door, what did YOU gain? You knew, better than most, that we had enough to worry about without hitting shot at in our own foxholes. I step tenderly because I know some of the names I dare not name will be the first to run in the next election, and I am trying to tell myself these these men, will not sing the "I can reach the white working class folks" song. Yes I say men, because if a woman steps up, they will all sing the "men wont vote for a woman" song I hear already on DU.
And well. speaking of women, there is one ugly fact, one elephant in the room. Yes, I know many of my fellow DU folks are white women, and they have been some of the strongest forces there is. However, MOST of the white women voted for Trump, just like they did in 2016. Better folks than me can try to unravel the WHY, but the WHAT is an abomination. I dole out true pity for the true liberals, especially women of color that worked hard, only to have her "friend" sneak into the voting booth and vote Trump for some mushy reasons: which boiled down to the fact they were either scared and/or greedy. I am sure many of you are saying "I can't believe my friend voted for him! what the F***K!"
and needless to say, one group I will NOT be kind to is a force that has caused us to lose. Jill Stein was not a factor this election, but let's see many of the self appointed prog pundits, like the folks on the Young Turks. Cenk, your smirking act is getting you paid, but you have not helped, and that goes double for Ana Kasparian who just did a post that said she was done with ALL Democrats, "even the squad! Sorry Ana, but this is one times where I am really annoyed that someone who is white gets to attack AOC, Omar, Talib and others who have taken much harder hits than you EVER will. Yes, the freedom to attack them while not being called out on your sh** IS WHITE PRIVILEDGE. Do I even need to mention Bill Maher, or Ted Rall whose main issue is that women have spoken up and demanded a role, to protect their abortion rights, rather than just have sex with him? The gays remember how you demonized them too just because they wanted to have marriage rights. The truth is , the people who bitch about "identity politics are not the people whose identity will cause them to suffer.
But let's not sink to the level of the charlatans. The whole reason I post this is not to undermine us for the long hard fight we have ahead. IT is a hard acknowledgment that if we try to use the same strategy that did work before, we will get creamed. Yes, we will need to watch out for friendly fire, be they false friends, or Russell Brand who is just over the moon now that RFK Jr. gets to kill vaccinations. WE also have to remember the old Aesop Fable where the scorpion begs a frog to carry him across the river: the one where the scorpion stings the frog and says "you knew I would sting" being a pompous jackass even as he drowns.
There will be no time to humor the false or the clowns. We have , not may have, HAVE passed a point where the country has broken. This is the second era of reconstruction, after what was a cold civil war. I am hoping that we can rebuild, but I will say this much, the old "malice toward non, charity for all" line is also outdated, especially as the older version of the force we now face repaid Lincoln with a bullet. We will offer our former enemies help as they realize that Trump was a scorpion that was ready to sting them, but we will NOT play the role of thje frog drowning in the river.
PS: to Russia, you may think you have been avenged, but just as Stalin could not live forever, neither will Vlad, and you will be a mess as the knives come out. To China, as big as you are, you do realize of our economy implodes, so does yours.
