Funtatlaguy's JournalI only need one answer.
Since November 5, I have cut back any or most all interaction with the Trumpers in my life.
Basically the only Trumpers I choose to speak with at all are family members and that’s just on a limited need to know basis.
I’ve just decided that they are people that don’t share my basic values and I’m too old and life is too short to waste on people like that.
Now when I meet someone new in a social situation that wants to become part of my social circle, I say this:
‘‘Before I waste either your time or mine in possibly starting a friendship, I have one question to ask you, who did you vote for President in 2024?”
If they say Trump, then I thank them for their answer and tell them that we’re just not a good match for friendship because our values are so different.
If they say Harris, then I smile and ask them if I can buy them a coffee.
This is so different for the way I was pre Trump. Before him, I had many Republican friends and acquaintances. But Trump has changed that for me. I just can’t deal with them any longer. My social circle is much smaller but so is my stress level.
Anybody else feel this way?
Welcome to day one of Gilead.
That’s how I now refer to America.
Tell me why I’m wrong.
America died for me on 11/5.
My joy is gone
My hope is gone
I’m not suicidal because I don’t believe in it.
Besides anything that truly mattered to me is no longer attainable. I will merely exist until death comes.
I hate America and Americans.
Sorry to be such a bummer on Christmas 🎅
But it is what it is.
"America Chose Cruelty...Congratulations".
I’ve been trying to think of a way to outwardly express my disdain for the Trump voter without having to use his name.
I’m going to have a tshirt and a baseball cap 🧢 made that says:
America Chose Cruelty
Congratulations
My purpose you may ask?
It will make me express my disdain and make me feel better without being confrontational with anyone.
Should I get asked what it means, I will simply respond… “November fifth”.
89 million Americans over 18 didn't vote.
What did Trumpers know or care about?
Had an interesting Thanksgiving with fellow Democrats.
We were breaking down the election.
Lots of thoughts of what happened and why.
The best discussion centered about Trump voters knowledge of negative things that he had actually said and done.
I’m going to list some things.
I’d like DU help with your thoughts.
Of what I list, please write beside them that either Trumpers:
1. “Didn’t know” (DK) something because they don’t consume much news or only RW Propaganda news and hadn’t heard about it.
2. “Didn’t believe” (DB) something even if they heard it from a place that they had considered a reliable source. They just write it off to a left wing lie and say his words were manipulated by nefarious editing.
3. “Didn’t care” (DC) about something that they agreed was really bad that Trump did or said. But they didn’t think it rose to the level of no longer supporting him. E.g. “that’s just Trump kidding around” or “he really didn’t mean that or wouldn’t really do that”.
Here are some topics and you can add your own to the list and then please
put a DK, DB, or DC next to the items when thinking about the mindset of the Trumpers in your life.
1. John McCain POW comment: “I like people that didn’t get captured”
2. People that join the military are: “Suckers and losers”
3. Covid can be combated by: “injecting bleach”
4. Believing Putins version of events over his own American intelligence agencies
5. Wanting to withdraw from NATO and abandon Ukraine
(Feel free to add some more, if you’d like).
The Prosperity Gospel sham ruined America.
The big money folks, the one percent of the one percent figured out a great way to get many religious people on their side.
They needed the idea of the evil “moneychangers” to change into people to be admired and aspired to.
And they did that by creating something called “The Prosperity Gospel”.
https://www.britannica.com/topic/prosperity-gospel
As the definition explains, greed can now be considered good and not evil.
The whole “it’s more difficult for a rich man to enter heaven than a camel to go thru the eye of a needle” Biblical reference was forgotten. Never mentioned from American religious pulpits again.
Just preach that being rich is good, and to get rich, you should give more to God (the plates being passed in church).
Suddenly caring for the poor and downtrodden Jesus teachings were forgotten and never mentioned again from the pulpits because if these downtrodden were just a “little more religious and a little less lazy” they too could experience Gods bounty (not just in Heaven) but on earth too.
Suddenly the preachers with the billion dollar homes, yachts, and jets were not to be condemned but to be admired.
And the GOP big money people knew they had their IN with a huge segment of society.
Just feign a little nod to religion occasionally and tell the masses that they should worship greed, and not just greed but EXCESSIVE greed.
Then, the pivot to the US vs THEM narrative was much easier to achieve.
Them are evil. They don’t believe in the biblical principle of the MAN being the head of the church and the family. Don’t discount this patriarchal viewpoint and how prevalent it was and still is. Whether you call it “toxic masculinity’’ or not, it exists and The Prosperity Gospel has helped accelerate it.
And it’s not just men who believe in the principle.
You will still find many women (mostly white) that still believe in and want white men to run their churches, their homes, and (hence) their governments.
The Prosperity Gospel won on November 5 and no brilliant extremely qualified woman or horrible, felonious and extremely unqualified male opponent could change that.
Longtime gone GOP strategist Lee Atwater would marvel at how his old party has brilliantly merged money and religion into such a powerful political force.
Headed Out to do some blue VISIBILITY.
As is my tradition on Election Day, I dress in Democratic Blue all day.
I am wearing my Harris/Walz baseball cap. 🧢
I go to heavily trafficked spots in my area (like indoor shopping malls) and just walk.
Later today, I will meet up with other area Democrats on busy street corners to wave Harris/Walz and other democratic candidates signs.
For me, doing this (what campaign staffers call VISIBILITY) keeps me busy and not just watching the tv pundits all day who only serve to make me nervous.
Will return home at 7pm (eastern time) to watch the results.
Please wish me well that I’m not attacked by any crazy Trumpers today. lol.
Go Kamala! Go Blue team!! We will win!!!
I abhor Shermichael Singleton.
He’s a conservative republican pundit and GOP strategist.
He’s all over CNN as their conservative roundtable member and Trump proponent.
I don’t know if it’s because he’s black and I don’t understand black republicans.
But he just makes my skin crawl when he speaks and defends Trump.
Anybody else feel this way?
