Raine1967
Raine1967's JournalToday is my 20 year DU anniversary!!
I'm not the most prolific poster here, but that wasn't why I joined. I was looking for like-minded people who had information and perspective to share. It took me a few years to finally throw some money at this crazy forum, (I miss gravel bot, I think) but I do not regret any of it. It helped me feel not so alone when I was living in red upstate NY. Since then I've lived in Atlanta, Virginia(NoVa) and now I'm in Maryland.
Thank you, DU for being a part of my life!!
Also: F*ck off to the GOP a billion times more than in 2004.
Signed up! Ready to go!! ME and Kamala in DC!
I signed up to See Kamala Harris tomorrow in DC!
The NPS granted a permit for 20,000 and I am one of them!! So damn excited!
I'm trying to find the schedule of speakers. Does anyone else know who will be there? I'm hoping my future Senator Angela Alsobrooks will be there!
About tweets that are deleted:
There is a thread in GD regarding the topic of a possible coup in China.
The OP posted it with no malice. It was a tweet that has since been removed and yet the OP is still there. Is there anyway to alert on a post like this? I ask because it seems like it is passing false information or disinformation.
What does our community do about tweets that are deleted and yet the OP still stands?
4th of July
I painted this. My name here is my name there, FTR.

CNN Fires Three Staffers Who Came Into Office Unvaccinated

The executive noted that employees were feeling unsettled as the pandemic took a new turn. I think it is fair to say that we are all feeling a mix of anticipation, anxiety, frustration, confusion, and exasperation. All of that is to be expected. We all have decisions to make that impact so many aspects of our lives. I get it. If nothing else, the resilience and perseverance you all have shown for 18 months now needs to continue a little bit longer. But we will get there, he said. Continue to take care of yourselves and each other. And I will share more updates just as soon as we have them.
More at the link, but seriously, this is about public health.
About that video from Arnold Schwarzenegger:
I can't find any of the OP with the video, so please give me a pass on not kicking it back up.
I cried when he spoke of the aftermath of nazi Germany. I had family that was among that group. I never met them, and they are not spoken of in my family. I know very little about them.
My 4 grandparents were born in Germany. To the best of my knowledge, they came to the USA before the war. I can only definitely confirm that my grandparents on my mother's side came over in the teens. IOW, before WW2. Those scars run deeper than Arnold speaks of. It became generational here on our shores as well. I'm a second-generation American.
He's right about the damage done to families. Trust me when I say the trauma is passed down until it is dealt with. The trauma stopped and healing began with the second generation in my family.
That said, we must hold people accountable before we can heal and reunite. Nixon being pardoned may have had a short term healing, but we are suffering the damage of that action. The people involved, the people that incited this need to be held to account. Accountability is not vengeance.
We need to impeach again so future generations will be given a nation that had a chance to be able to unite and heal.
I have gone from Undecided to:

I've struggled with making this announcement here and on FB and twitter as we have so many great candidates.
For me, she combines brutal honesty with policy papers that I feel can be legislated.
It's a sad state of affairs that I feel like I need to say that this is NOT a knock on other D candidates.
I will vote Blue in the general. I will not knock or candidates but will say that some people need not be in this race.
Tonight, for now, I am NOT looking at Bloomberg.
Overall, I am not willing to tolerate any candidate that attacks Clinton or Obama.
How to be subversive. AKA: How to Recycling garbage and support the USPS!
I'm a witness to what my husband posted on FB. I am sharing it here because I think DU will like it.
Last weekend, one of our neighbors had a party (they tend to - a lot) and several of their guests parked in front of our house. The next morning, we saw that one of them had dumped some trash from their car on our front yard. We were pretty pissed.
We were busy this week, and didn't do anything about it. Today, I noticed there was a bill in there with their address.
So - I boxed up the trash and mailed it to them. Sure, that's 7 bucks and change out of my pocket, but I would just love to be there when they open it up.
What he failed to mention in that post was that the return address was the house that hosted the party.
Not gonna lie, I love giving hearts.
I wish people knew me a little more on DU so they knew why I gave them.
Happy Valentine day.
Families Belong Together March: Who marched today and where?
If this is already a Thread, I will gladly delete if you can point me to said thread.
We were in DC today and I was astounded at the turnout, Sounds like 30-50K -- and I am REALLY cool with that as I am seeing that it looks like the march was millions over the country and the world. It was REALLY hot here in DC and people still showed up -- TONS of preteens and teens with their parents. I talked to a few parents and they told me that it was their kids that wanted to be there.
Many kids insisted on parents showing up.
Did you or a friend march today? Let's share it together!
(Side note, here in DC, there was a trump policy rally -- I was told by a DC Police officer 1600 signed up. They were supposed to march the other way the Families Belong Together March was heading on Pennsylvania Avenue. They are silly people.)
My fave part of the day was being a part of the protesters who surrounded the Department of Justice building.
