Can someone enlighten me - why are the Israelis bombing Syrian cities?
I keep reading Bibi has been bombing Syria's cities, and while i understand they are trying a land grab of the Syrian golan heights, the bombings are mindboggling.

I constantly have to remind myself that America is an experiment, working towards a more perfect union. We've only been a nation for 250 years. We haven't been through wars on our home turf (except Pearl Harbor & Twin Tower attacks) & authoritarian rule.
We need to stay engaged and fight another day, another year, another 10 years...for the country we want. "A republic, if we can keep it".

Tim Alberta, a staff writer at The Atlantic, went on CNN to discuss the final days of the Trump campaign after writing a feature on the crucial sprint to Election Day.
“As of a few weeks ago, people close to him were still pretty bullish on his prospects,” Alberta said Monday night. “I’m not sure that’s the case anymore. I think there is a real fear that the bottom has started to fall out here at the worst possible moment and that they are closing in about as weak of fashion as you possibly could.”
“If sprinting through the tape is at one extreme,” he said, “I think sort of crawling or limping through the tape is at the other. And I think that’s how a lot of the Trump folks feel right now.”

Ahead of potential civil unrest due to Tuesday’s presidential election, the National Guard is on standby as a precaution in several states, including Washington state and Oregon, where hundreds of ballots were damaged or destroyed after at least three ballot drop boxes were recently set on fire, officials say. Almost all the ballots set ablaze on Monday were in a drop box in Vancouver, Washington, while most ballots in a drop box in Portland, Oregon, survived a fire set the same day, election officials said. The incidents are believed to be connected to a third fire on October 8, also in Vancouver. Portland police released a physical description of a suspect but said they’ve not identified him.
Inslee did not disclose how many troops would be activated on Tuesday, but said they will be available to support law enforcement from Monday to Thursday, according to the news release.
The US Department of Homeland Security has warned that threats to “election infrastructure” remain high, Inslee added.
“Based upon general and specific information and concerns regarding the potential for violence or other unlawful activity related to the 2024 general election, I want to ensure we are fully prepared to respond to any potential additional civil unrest,” Inslee said.
In Oregon, Gov. Tina Kotek said in a statement Friday the National Guard is standing ready as political leaders call for peaceful protests, according to CNN affiliate KTVZ.
“The governor’s office is closely monitoring and coordinating with local, state and federal agencies to ensure Oregon voters can safely cast their ballot,” the statement said. While there is “no current information to suggest unrest,” Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler said, according to KTVZ, “there is a lot of uncertainty and tension in our community.”

The activation will support state and local resources on Election Day, the statement said.
Preparations are also underway in Washington, DC, where more than 3,000 police officers will work 12-hour shifts, Police Chief Pamela A. Smith said in a news conference Tuesday.
To ensure security, police chiefs across the United States are making unprecedented plans for Election Day and the weeks that follow. The issue has become pressing for law enforcement since the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the US Capitol that delayed certification of the last presidential election.
Three law enforcement associations representing agencies from across the country – the Major County Sheriffs of America, the National Sheriffs’ Association, and the Major Cities Chiefs Association – said in a joint statement last month that authorities have been in preparation for over a year and a half leading up to the election and asked citizens to stay vigilant as well.
“As always, the associations encourage the public to speak up if they witness anything suspicious or unusual with election activities,” the statement said. “If you ‘See Something, Say Something’, and let law enforcement investigate and determine the outcome of any suspicious circumstances or incidents.”

I love this lady. Her videos have helped keep me sane and my BP down. She's saying there's alot of anecdotal evidence (ex: whole blocks of registered republicans flipping for Harris), long early voting lines & turnout at an all time high, as well as reliable polling showing huge women & GenZ turnout, which have been wildly underestimated by many polls.

Donald Trump has tempted evangelical Christians just as Satan tempted Jesus — except this time it worked
The first temptation was the offer of turning stones into bread. Jesus would have been starving by that time, but his famous reply was that man does not live on bread alone... Trump has offered the evangelical church a lot of bread, and the possibility to live the way he does. There are invitations to Mar-a-Lago, trips on the Trump plane, tax breaks for the wealthy and, on a larger scale, an economy that is constructed to benefit the richest people in our society, prominent evangelical ministers among them. In every area of life, when money becomes the end goal, community is undermined, art suffers and the truth is distorted. The church is no different. Evangelical leaders, by the way, are terrified of this message. They twist themselves into theological knots teaching and preaching that it's OK to be both a millionaire and a minister to the gospel of Christ.
The devil's second temptation is the offer of protection and safety. In the gospel, he urges Jesus to jump off the roof of the temple — if he is truly the son of God, surely his father, will protect him. Jesus replies that we must not put the Lord God to the test. This is an interesting temptation that we often encounter in life... I see that in the evangelical support of Donald Trump. His offer of protection is clear, and something he discusses all the time. He promises to keep the Christians safe from the evil forces of liberalism. The left is coming for your guns, he tells them. They will persecute you for your Christian faith. Your children are in danger of conversion by the "woke" mob on college campuses, on television, in the big cities. Never fear, believing Christians, Donald Trump will keep you safe.
It should be obvious that Jesus Christ did not live a safe life, a protected life or a comfortable life. Promises of protection and safety would have taken him off course just as Trump's temptations have taken the evangelical leadership away from what should be their true mission.
The final temptation offered by the devil, and by Trump, is the most obvious. The devil offers Jesus power over the whole world, and all he has to do is kneel before Satan and submit to his authority...Power does corrupt, as it most certainly has in the case of evangelical support of Donald Trump. Pastor Robert Jeffress is hardly the only example, but no one embodies the corrupting force of that this temptation better than he does. That man loves the power of the White House and the power Trump has provided him. Jeffress will create whatever theological explanation he has to in his efforts to return Trump to the White House.
