But how much efficiency is a good thing. It is a word CEOs

use to imply profits and value to shareholders. But if refusing a coffee break to your workers, so they can't have a cup of coffee on their way to work any day, makes you efficient so you can give the wealthy stock buybacks. A good thing? The ceo is saying we have nowhere to invest so take your money. Then the rich get into private equity with that money and where does private equity go? Into the housing market and warp that so people can not get into the housing market as it is to expensive. And the person has no coffee and no housing. So how much efficiency is really a good thing? The goal of housing used to be providing a home through the markets. Now the goal is efficiency. Were things really that bad in all the markets including housing when ceos were not high on efficiencies' fumes in say the 1990s? Did the world fall apart?

Yes. It will not make any sense soon. Unfortunately it will be hard

to get all that slop off the internet so it will keep feeding itself. Maybe people will actually become more discerning instead as their senses are assaulted. Sure is a new world.

Is it purposeful to turn our minds to mush? I see AI mistakes in time and geography too.

"It is worth communicating that there is not currently a known technical fix for removing AI slop imagery and web content from search results, so we’re headed for an information crisis of unprecedented proportions. Really."

They want to stop drug research? I thought the millionaires

and billionaires at the Heritage Foundation want great Healthcare and meds research, great hospitals and healthcare, they just want to price it out of the average person's hands by making Healthcare and medications expensive. The better to not have to spend money on Social Security and Medicare for too many people. The better for Republicans to be the only ones voting after the age of 60. . Was a time pantihose used to be treated with chemicals to make them run after only a few wearings. This is the same thing... they want a good till date on the poor and middle class. We knew a lone corporation was capable of such tricks, or a whole industry, but I doubt Americans expected it from their government and Healthcare. At least not the ones who were fooled into voting Trump.

(Full disclosure my mom would cut off a leg of pantihose that had a run it it then save the good led and panty. When she had two of them she'd put them on, one over the other, and the pantihose would live another wearing. Mark Cuban has an all important workaround on meds but i don't know that he can get access to novel meds under patent. Still we need to think of workarounds for the more serious issue of healthcare).

Inside the Republican false-flag effort to turn off Kamala Harris voters

Inside the Republican false-flag effort to turn off Kamala Harris voters

A multipronged dark money effort by advisers to Elon Musk targeted liberals, Jews, Muslims and Black voters with ads that were not quite what they seemed.

Muslims in Michigan began seeing pro-Israel ads this fall praising Vice President Kamala Harris for marrying a Jewish man and backing the Jewish state. Jews in Pennsylvania, meanwhile, saw ads from the same group with the opposite message: Harris wanted to stop U.S. arms shipments to Israel.

Get the latest election news and results
Another group promoted “Kamala’s bold progressive agenda” to conservative-leaning Donald Trump voters, while a third filled the phones of young liberals with videos about how Harris had abandoned the progressive dream. Black voters in North Carolina were told Democrats wanted to take away their menthol cigarettes, while working-class White men in the Midwest were warned that Harris would support quotas for minorities and deny them Zyn nicotine pouches.

What voters had no way of knowing at the time was that all of the ads were part of a single, $45 million effort created by political advisers to Tesla founder Elon Musk who had previously worked on the presidential campaign of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), according to a presentation about the group’s efforts obtained by The Washington Post.

The project, funded with anonymous donations, micro-targeted messages across the battleground states, often with ads that appeared to be something they were not — a tactic the organizers sometimes referred to internally as “false positives.”

Joe Rogan Endorsed Trump Because Tim Walz Is a 'Liar'

Joe Rogan Endorsed Trump Because Tim Walz Is a ‘Liar’

“Podcaster Joe Rogan said he publicly endorsed Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election because he strongly opposed Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, branding the Democratic vice presidential nominee a ‘liar,'” The Independent reports.

“Rogan said he had no intention of weighing in on politics because ‘it’s gross,’ but felt compelled to after news reports emerged revealing Walz had lied about spending time in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square Protests and made confusing statements about his military record.”

Applegrove:

Trump's you come to me charisma lures people's brain to merge with his so people cannot see the big picture. You have to get out of your own mind to see the big picture and be more objective. But people stuck in Trump brain frequency doesn't stop Rogan from getting them to look at Tim Walz from on high and judge him for two or three exaggerations over a full lifetime when Trump lies all the time. Rogan is teaching Americans to do it. It is like the two men are in two separate worlds in peoples' minds. Trump lied about everything. Walz is being scapegoated as the liar in this election year.

I'm talking basic facts like where a famous monestary is.

The internet is full of bs but I didn't think time and/or space would be attacked. Is there is nothing we plebs are allowed to share together? The BS on morality and politics and trust in government has been going on for a long time. But our sense of time or place? This baited in otherwise innocuous pleasant non political OPs? That is new. Are we not allowed to share a sence of time or geographic location with others? A shared sense of anything?

December 4, 2024

Someone has started a campaign for us to not trust

the internet, reality, our eyes in novel most basic way. I have seen numerous false posts on the internet in the last week suddenly: the location of a famous monestory, the date of some event. Very few before. These are the most obvious of fake locations or way off dates and the like. Our sence of space and sense of time, thus history and science (space and time), are being F'ed with. Not just our politics or our sense of right and wrong. Time and space are the basics of our perception.

Then again maybe it is AI that is clueless on space and time.

Applegrove: Ever since Burger King came out with creepy Burger King character on tv ads have increasingly gone for disgust to sell product (good feeling are probably overdone in ads and lose their effectiveness, bad feelings assure the product name will be remembered. Think Skittles ads with a rasta man milking a giraffe who is eating a rainbow or a red haired doughed teenage boy (just a description of the boy so you'll remember the ad) getting Skittlepox and a teenage girl pulling one skittle off his skin (does she eat it - I can't remember)). Maybe those progressive ads we see and love are meant to impress and disgust different populations at the same time. I see and and and think great mixed race couples are being normalized. A racist sees the same ad and thinks fuck this mixed race couples are being normalized. Works for gay couples and drag queens in ads too. I'm sure other issues. Does this lead to a backlash in voters as well as happy people who are thrilled to vote Democrat? A backlash of rural voters who otherwise would not see how fast the world is changing? Would the marketing departments at big businesses know this? I think so. Don't know what's to be done.

Elon Musk is poised to cut funding for rural broadband services - which would potentially benefit his own internet

'Unprecedented': Trump ally reportedly poised to divert billions into his own company

Elon Musk is poised to cut funding for rural broadband services – which would potentially benefit his own internet service provider.

https://www.rawstory.com/unprecedented-2670238566/

Applegrove:

Republicans were searching for a way to make infrastructure broadband a bad thing during the election. They came up with young people and others moving to rural areas because they can do their jobs from afar will increase the cost of housing.

Then they morphed that into the Haitian legal immigrants working in Springfield were putting stress on the systems in the town without mentioning the growth they brought with them.

I was online for the first part of that discussion on the DU when they were trying anti-broadband takes and now I think it might have been MAGA AI. I looked for that discussion back in the spring but could not find it. I don't see a search function on DU.
