BaronChocula's JournalAnd we're back to the "Economic Anxiety" excuse
I've been too sick to look over the margins of victory. I turned on Nicole for three minutes today and turned it off when I saw chyron proclaiming "Anger over economy drove trump victory" or something like that.
I don't want to spend too much time on this, but trump seems to have won comfortably over the vice president with an economy that is actually healthy. trump lost more narrowly to the president while the economy was bottomed out. Bad. Kaput.
Do the math. This was white racial anxiety, just as it was in 2016.
So sick.
In Case you missed the King of all Trash
This gets my vote for worst political optics of the century.
A simple request going forward
Ive never seen in any post on this site comments such as:
White people should know by now the republican party is not on their side.
White people who vote republican will get what they deserve.
I dont know how white people can vote for republicans.
When will whites learn that the republican party hates them?
I have seen countless posts with similar comments regarding slivers of minority groups that may tend to vote for the rapist. Please stop, especially if you arent part of that community.
We seem to accept it as a part of life that white Americans are politically split. That somehow seems normal to us. But for some reason, many expect darker folks in America to be a more united political front and get indignant when it doesnt happen.
So here lies the meat of the ask. If you dont demand your own community to be a monolith, stop expecting other communities to be a monolith to make up for it. Its completely hypocritical and hypocrisy is one of the pillars of racism. Even though its not done out of malice, it still makes things a little less welcoming around here.
Yes, I realize the shallow appeals the republican party makes to white people and how some Whites fall for those appeals. I know this is the expansion of the Southern Strategy that was begun by republicans to welcome southern Democratic bigots into their tent. I know how racial politicking works. Remember, republicans also make shallow appeals that attract certain nonwhites. In both cases its just a fact of life that we have to deal with, even through the frustration of these last few days of the Election.
Thank you for understanding.
Israel says it is conducting 'precise strikes on military targets' in Iran
Source: BBC
Israel's military says that, "like every other sovereign country in the world, the State of Israel has the right and the duty to respond", due to "the regime in Iran and its proxies in the region... relentlessly attacking Israel" since 7 October 2023.
"Our defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilized," the military says.
"We will do whatever necessary to defend the State of Israel and the people of Israel," it adds.

What Liz Cheney just said in Michigan
She is alongside Vice President Harris.
She was specifically talking about the Republicans who need not fear voting for the vice president. She thinks millions of Republicans will be voting for Harris. By my estimate, if even ONE million Republicans vote for Harris-Walz it will be a blowout. But I don't make predictions.
Why no media frenzy over trump town hall freeze?
The republican party is very white and very male, way more so than the Democratic Party. White men have always received more credit, reverence, and passes than anyone else in America. Republicans get the white man's pass that even white male Democrats don't get.
This is a continued case of media giving trump the white man's pass.
Top Ten Reasons Trump Looks So Terrible
10. Sought deregulated knockoff Beautox treatment.
9. Haitian immigrant Hannibale Lectere ate his face.
8. Has an issue with pore crowd size.
7. Black don't crack, but orange (well, nothing rhymes with orange).
6. Didn't read My Pillow fine print.
5. He's ugly.
4. Too many McBleach milkshakes.
3. Sour grapes = bad preserves.
2. Wears free post prison suit before going to prison.
1. Maga-lardo windows are under water.
I wonder if any of this has occurred to Liz Cheney
If the thinking of those in her former caucus is so wrong when it comes to adoration of an autocratic rapist, might they also be wrong about any of the numerous policies on which she agrees with them?
I know that many here want to focus on the benefit of her break and thats good. But theres nothing wrong with asking questions, right?
I personally envision a future where lifelong Republicans (perhaps including Cheney) who voted for Kamala Harris realize that a responsible government that taxes and spends with a concentration on those closer to the margins rather than those with the most power isnt so bad after all. If thats the case, in a few years we can get back to more bipartisanship and less brinksmanship. It may well be a longshot, but Its what I think about when I think about Liz Cheney.
While I heartily welcome discussion, I politely ask to be spared of lectures on how I should be viewing Liz Cheney at this moment.
Look at this hilarious AP "news" alert I got on my phone
I'm Soooooooo sure the Harris campaign is running around panicked and pulling their hair out because they fell for this extremely brilliant ruse. The vice president will have absolutely no choice but to RUN to the nearest AP bureau and give an interview! Kudos for this little trick, Associated Press! This is right up there with "your epidermis is showing."
